Our approach

Sustainability is inherent to our company strategy

As a leading power systems provider we have a fundamental role in meeting the environmental and societal opportunities and challenges that the world faces.

We are committed to doing more, using less and we invest over S$2 billion in research and development each year, two-thirds of which is dedicated to improving the environmental performance of our products, minimising the impact of our engines.

Commitment to STEM

We are committed to contribute to the economic development and social wellbeing of communities where we operate throughout South East Asia. We have a strong focus on education and skills, particularly to encourage the next generation of innovators and to encourage diversity in learning Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects.

Our community programmes

We reach thousands of children each year through our community investment and learning initiatives across South East Asia

Generation Aerospace

Inspiring the next generation of young scientists, mathematicians and engineers across South East Asia

A growing industry

Exciting growth prospects for Asia’s aerospace industry relies on a skilled workforce and pipeline of future talent. Investing today in tomorrow’s talent will help sustain the region’s aerospace ecosystem and as travel in the region continues to grow.

Investing today in tomorrow’s talent

Air travel needs to continue to be faster, smarter and cleaner, so it’s never been more important to inspire young people to choose a career in aerospace and equip them with the right skills.

Inspiration needs to start from a young age, when kids are questioning the world around them and discovering the magic of science, maths and technology (STEM). And that curiosity needs to be nurtured throughout their lives, as it’s what will help drive innovation.

日本一本道最新高清无码It’s also crucial that we show young people who are contemplating their career paths the kind of roles available in aerospace – and the rewards. Roles are evolving and we're seeing a greater need for electrical engineers, data scientists and highly skilled technicians to work with increasingly sophisticated technology, for example.

Generation Aerospace, an exhibition which has toured Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, is our way of getting young people excited about the industry.

Singapore

日本一本道最新高清无码An entire aerospace ecosystem is already in place in Singapore: we manufacture fan blades and engine components, assemble and test engines, deliver engine health monitoring, service and maintain engines and carry out research into future technologies through our research networks.

日本一本道最新高清无码We want young people to grasp the significance of this and feel proud.

日本一本道最新高清无码In 2015 we travelled 173 kilometres in just 10 days on a nationwide tour with the Trent 1000 engine, exposing students to Singapore’s thriving aerospace industry. Over 4,800 students from 19 secondary schools, junior colleges and higher learning institutes took part in the interactive exhibition.

In 2016 the Trent 1000 engine display and exhibition was the focal point of the Education Zone at the Singapore Airshow. Visiting families and students took a virtual reality “Inside the Engine” tour to learn about the anatomy of a jet engine, took selfies with a live Trent 1000 engine and learned about different career paths open to them.

Malaysia

日本一本道最新高清无码Each year the Generation Aerospace exhibition makes its way to the Kuala Lumpur Engineering Science Fair, known as KLESF. The exhibition typically attracts over 50,000 visitors across three days and our employees are on hand to demonstrate the interactive STEM exhibit to students, teachers and parents.

Attendees have the opportunity to learn about, and see up close, our crown jewel technology – the hollow titanium wide chord fan blade. The interactive exhibition also guides participants through Malaysia’s aerospace eco-system and provides fun facts on the inner working of aircraft engines.

Thailand

In support of Thai Airways Young pilots day, the Generation Aerospace exhibition travelled to Bangkok in 2016 to inspire students from local schools. Over 100 students aged between 10 to 20 took part in the activity filled day which included flight simulator experiences and educational flight games.

We have a long-standing relationship with Thai airways dating back to 1963.

Investing in Higher Education for Indonesia

Investing in Higher Education for Indonesia

Establishing an International Learning Experience Programme

In collaboration with the Newton Fund and British Council Indonesia, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education to establish an International Learning Experience Programme.

日本一本道最新高清无码At an investment of £150,000 per year from us, the 10 day programme is delivered by Ashridge Business School in the United Kingdom. The programme is designed specifically for education leaders from Indonesian universities with strong science and technology faculties, and provides insights on how to build on existing scientific and technological achievements in order to become world-class universities. During the programme, delegates have the opportunity to interact with British experts on global higher education challenges and gain insights from leading UK universities through case studies, discussions and visits.

Making STEM teaching fun in Indonesia

We have partnered with local education group PT Kuark Indonesia to develop a STEM Awareness and Teacher Training Programme to promote the teaching of STEM subjects to students aged 7 to 12 in a fun and exciting way

In 2015 we held a STEM Awareness Programme with Kuark across seven public schools in Pulogebang, Jakarta, reaching more than 2,700 students. The programme included teacher workshops focused on the importance of STEM for the future of Indonesia, and hands-on student activities.

日本一本道最新高清无码All challenges throughout the competition aimed to advance students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills while encouraging creativity and innovation – both critical components of STEM education.

日本一本道最新高清无码In 2016 we built on the success of the STEM Awareness Programme, through a STEM Teachers Training Programme with 40 teachers from 30 schools in East Jakarta. The hands-on programme included guidance to teachers to develop their own STEM projects as well as assessment of STEM teaching methodology in order to integrate plans effectively to project-based learning in the classroom.

Connecting communities in Vietnam

We actively support education in Vietnam through direct collaborations with local education institutions

In 2016 Rolls-Royce employees from across Asia Pacific partnered with university students to help Phu Luu Te Secondary School in Hanoi to improve their facilities, including the installation of a new computer room and improvements to the school playground. Employees took part in an entire day of activities with the students, teaching them how to create their own paper Trent engine.

日本一本道最新高清无码We support the Giao Thuy School for children through educational gifts and audiology experts to help parents with hearing impaired children. We also work with Blue Dragon, an Australian charity organisation whose work mainly focuses on supporting Vietnamese street kids and children with disabilities.

日本一本道最新高清无码Tet charity events are organised by Rolls-Royce to assist underprivileged children in Thung Nai commune, Hoa Binh province, Vietnam and we sponsor Humanitarian Services for Children of Vietnam (HSCV) - an organisation which gives aid to poverty-stricken Vietnamese children.
